Edmund’s Open Lecture Series a resounding success after latest instalment

We are thrilled to announce the resounding success of yet another captivating instalment of the Edmund’s Open Lecture Series, which took place at the University and Professional Development Centre on May 2nd, 2024. This time, attendees were treated to an enthralling exploration titled "Under the Sacred Stage; Corpses of the Abbey" by Dan Clarke, a distinguished member of the curatorial team at Moyse’s Hall Museum.

Dan Clarke, a former student of the BA (Hons) English and History degree at West Suffolk College, unravelled the history of Moyses Hall dating back to 1130, alongside fascinating insights into the Abbey and England’s 'mummification' processes.

With infectious enthusiasm, Dan regaled the audience with tales of historical intrigue, from the desecrated grave of Thomas Beaufort to the demise of Mary Tudor. Attendees were spellbound as Dan painted vivid pictures, recounting the eerie phenomena of glassy eyes, and even exploding corpses, demonstrating the enduring allure of history's macabre mysteries.
